Knight of Swords

You are looking for a way to broaden your knowledge and mental faculties. Often this comes in the form of a sudden and dramatic change to your life such as a move to a new home or a change of jobs. Sometimes it's simply seeking a new challenge that will make your life more interesting. Swords is indicative of conflict, so these changes may initially be difficult to deal with. If you're finding yourself swept along in the middle of some dramatic event, keep in mind that this is going to be a very fleeting thing and is ultimately not going to be as satisfying as you wish. Should difficulties arise, do your best to avoid flying off the handle. A calm approach will lead to a positive resolution.

The Haindl deck, which draws upon deities from mythology as well as ancient and indigenous peoples, has chosen the Egyptian god Osiris, God of the afterlife, the Underworld and the Dead to represent the Knight of Swords.

The Emperor

You have the courage of your convictions and are able to follow through with whatever you've started. You're good at organizing your thoughts and actions with intellect and reason. You have the power to fully direct the course of your life and will be able to translate your dreams into reality if you're willing to work hard in order to establish a solid foundation for your life. While The Empress represents the feminine aspect of our selves: intuitive, receptive and nurturing, The Emperor is the dynamic extrovert that represents the outgoing masculine nature within us and together they form two halves of a whole. To have them both balanced and active within us is what brings us to total completion of our selves.

The Magician

This is the first numbered card in the Major Arcana, and "one" is the number of masculine power: forceful, decisive and perfect for new beginnings. And that is exactly what you are experiencing, an exciting new beginning and the development of untapped potential within yourself, especially creatively and intellectually. Opportunities that allow you to explore these areas are likely to present themselves and when they do, you should embrace them. Take action and draw from your inner reservoir of power and energy. The Magician tells you that there are choices to be made and you must be fully determined and act decisively if you are to use your talents and intellect to your fullest potential.

The Haindl Tarot is an interesting deck. It reflects on the spiritual reverance of nature by Native American and indigenous cultures as well as drawing on the pantheon of mythological deities worshipped by ancient civilizations.
