Knight of Swords

You are looking for a way to broaden your knowledge and mental faculties. Often this comes in the form of a sudden and dramatic change to your life such as a move to a new home or a change of jobs. Sometimes it's simply seeking a new challenge that will make your life more interesting. Swords is indicative of conflict, so these changes may initially be difficult to deal with. If you're finding yourself swept along in the middle of some dramatic event, keep in mind that this is going to be a very fleeting thing and is ultimately not going to be as satisfying as you wish. Should difficulties arise, do your best to avoid flying off the handle. A calm approach will lead to a positive resolution.

The Haindl deck, which draws upon deities from mythology as well as ancient and indigenous peoples, has chosen the Egyptian god Osiris, God of the afterlife, the Underworld and the Dead to represent the Knight of Swords.

The Emperor

You have the courage of your convictions and are able to follow through with whatever you've started. You're good at organizing your thoughts and actions with intellect and reason. You have the power to fully direct the course of your life and will be able to translate your dreams into reality if you're willing to work hard in order to establish a solid foundation for your life. While The Empress represents the feminine aspect of our selves: intuitive, receptive and nurturing, The Emperor is the dynamic extrovert that represents the outgoing masculine nature within us and together they form two halves of a whole. To have them both balanced and active within us is what brings us to total completion of our selves.

The Magician and Six of Pentacles

Card One. What you Seek. The Magician. You're ready to use your creative gifts and abilities, and to possibly tap into some undeveloped potential you're not yet aware of. You have a great deal of power and energy with which to pursue your new goals. You're intelligent and imaginative, and with self-awareness you'll be able to channel these attributes in a very concrete and practical way. Take the initiative and use your talents to their fullest.

Card Two. What Will Come to You Unbidden. Six of Pentacles. You will soon be in a position to share your resources with others. Remember the adage "what goes around, comes around" for what you give to others will return to you in abundance. This is a time of not only sharing what you have financially or creatively, but of karmic obligation. You'll find yourself clearing a debt or repaying a favor of some kind. This is the card of ethics and remembering to be charitable in all your actions.

Nine of Swords

You're feeling overwhelmed by inner doubts, but these have absolutely nothing to do with reality. The stress and unhappiness you're feeling is something that you've created in your mind. You may be facing a difficult decision or a challenging situation, but your worries over this are far, far worse than the actual event. Your negative thinking is exacerbating your situation and as soon as you're able to get your head under control and let go of your obsessive thoughts, you will realize that your situation isn't nearly as frightening as you believed it to be. You may be suffering from some minor stress-related health issues right now, but these too will most likely resolve themselves when you are able to relax. Remember that things are seldom as horrible as we imagine them to be.

King of Cups

It's time to harness your emerging intuitive skills, intellect and creativity and channel them into something positive. If possible, integrate these skills into your work and use them for the benefit of others. You may be hesitant to open yourself up to those around you, and this is understandable. It's always easier to protect yourself than to render yourself emotionally vulnerable, but this is how we grow spiritually. If you have trouble expressing your feelings, then working on being empathic and supportive of others is exactly what you need to do. Never fear the power that being an honest and caring person holds. Allow the world to see the inner you, and in turn let your emotions flow freely. Offer whatever gifts you can to those who can most use what you have to give and never be embarrassed to be an intimate soul.

This Page tells you it's time to get back in touch with your true feelings and even though you may still be feeling fragile, this reflection and contemplation is necessary.
